Pick up in Reykjavik

We start the day early and pick you up from your accommodation in Reykjavik between 8:30 AM – 09:00 AM. Please note that some hotels & guesthouses located in the old city center of Reykjavik are in a bus restricted zone that requires guests to wait at certain bus stops. You can choose the one that is closest to your accommodation and we will collect you from there.

After pick up, we start driving along Highway #1. On the way, we stop to visit some of the main highlights of the south coast.

Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls

Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, both of them are amazingly beautiful waterfalls that receive their water directly from Eyjafjallajökull glacier that sits on top of the volcano of the same name that erupted in 2010 and caused trouble to the air traffic in Europe at that time. Beautiful nature at it‘s best.

Reynisfjara black sand beach

Reynisfjara black sandy beach is our third stop. There, you discover some amazing basalt rock formations(columnar basalt) and the black volcanic sand. During the summer season(from May to end of August) puffins can be seen on top of the cliffs in the area. That is one of their main breeding areas in Iceland. You have to be careful there as the waves can carry you out, without any notice. Please ask your driver where the safe spot is. Safety number one.

Vík village

Vik village where you have enough time to enjoy a lunch break. There, you can also visit the local wool factory before starting our drive back to Reykjavik.

Sólheimajökull glacier outlet

Sólheimajökull and outlet (snout) originating from Mýrdalsjökull, Iceland's fourth largest glacier. There, we go for a short walk to get closer to the glacier. This is one of the best examples about how fast glaciers melt due to the global warming (climate change)

Back to "home" after a long day with our guide. Estimated time back is around 18:00 PM – 19:00 PM.

Let us take you there!
